I make non-traditional one-of-a-kind quilts. The ideas come from many sources: things that I have read, poetry, places that I have been, the natural world, even dreams. I am most strongly influenced by African American strip quilts. Their unpredictable design elements and their fearless use of color and pattern have inspired me. I am indebted to the thousands of anonymous quilt makers whose work I have enjoyed and whose efforts have informed my own process.
